biaggi_misano_podium.jpgThere were two distinct Max Biaggis at Misano yesterday, both of them winning at the Adriatic Riviera circuit in the seventh WSBK round.After taking race 1, battling at every curve with the top riders (he started from the tenth spot on the grid), Biaggi had the satisfaction of dominating race 2 in true Biaggi style, demonstrating an unsustainable pace for all his rivals right from the start.Starting once again from the third row, this time Max already completed part of his masterpiece on lap 1. Lying in fifth place after just a few curves, he rode his Aprilia RSV4 to third place. Then, after overtaking Rea on lap 2 and front-runner Sykes on lap 3, Max widened the gap with a series of fast laps that led to an advantage of more than seven seconds at the flag, where he was followed across the line by Rea and Haslam.At the end of the day Biaggi was unable to hide his satisfaction: "It was an amazing weekend. After Superpole which forced me to start from the third row, I was able to stay focused and express myself well during the race. After the test sessions I chose a tyre which wasn't the fastest as far as lap times go, but the one that gave me more confidence. In any case I had to take some risks because there are very few places to overtake here, but in the end I was successful and I'm leaving Misano with an incredible double win. I'd like to thank the guys on the Team who always work well and I would like to dedicate this victory to my girlfriend Eleonora and my son Leon, who was here at the track for the first time to see me race".

303_r07_riders_emilia.jpgFollowing the recent spate of earthquakes in the Emilia-Romagna area of north-eastern Italy which have caused serious damage to towns near Modena and the surrounding area, Infront Motor Sports expresses its solidarity for the quake-hit population. A first quake of 6.0 magnitude struck close to Modena on Sunday 20 May and this has been followed by a series of major and minor aftershocks in the provinces of Reggio Emilia, Bologna, Modena, Ferrara and Ravenna over the last couple of weeks.During last weekend's seventh round of the eni FIM Superbike World Championship at Misano Adriatico, 150 kms south of the affected area, two initiatives were put in place as a gesture of solidarity to the population.A banner ("SBK for Emilia") was shown on the starting-grid before the start of World Superbike race 1. The banner was held by riders, including BMW Motorrad Motorsport's Marco Melandri, whose Ravenna home is closest to the epicenter area.An auction will also be organized by Infront Motor Sports in support of the population. This will include racing items donated by riders and teams, and the proceeds will be devolved to the quake-hit population. One item set to go under the hammer is a Terra Modena prototype bike, which was on display in the SBK Paddock Show, kindly donated by Infront Motor Sports CEO Paolo Flammini.The auction will get underway at the start of July and further information will become available on www.worldsbk.com in the coming weeks.

ssp_misano_baldolini_news.jpgAlex Baldolini was one of the stars of the Misano Supersport World Championship round over the weekend, scoring his and the Power Team by Suriano's very first podium. Thanks to the perfect work done by the whole team led by Antonio "Ninetto" Suriano the Italian, a rookie this year in Supersport, took the Triumph Daytona 675 machine back to the podium again after a couple of years with a third place.Baldolini started from row 3 and immediately gained some positions to move up to fifth. and sixth place gaining a gap on the competitors of more than 2 seconds. Ahead of him Foret had to give way due to a penalty after the first turn and then Lowes crashed out, leaving Baldolini in third. The Italian maintained his advantage over Tamburini and took the chequered flag with a third place conquering the very first podium of his career in Supersport.Alex Baldolini: "I'm really happy. This is the result of the great work done by the team even after some issues we had during practices. I knew about my potential with this bike and I hit the result I was hoping for. I kicked off really well immediately gaining some positions and I could get rid of some competitors boosting up the gap on them. When I knew that I was two places ahead, I fought hard because the soft tyre was starting to lose its performance. I tried to adapt my style to the situation and was able to contain Tamburini. It's a great satisfaction that helps me to be in fifth place in general ranking."

sbk_misano_race1_start_news.jpgWorldSBK.com provides a quick round-up of the facts and figures from the seventh eni Superbike World Championship round at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli in Italy. RACES• Max Biaggi scored his fifth career double, he hadn't recorded one in two years, since Misano 2010: in the last three years Max won here four times and was second twice;• Chaz Davies in race one made a great comeback, finishing sixth from 21st in grid. Since 2000 on the Misano track only another rider was able to start outside the top-20 and finish in the top-6: that was Noriyuki Haga, from 21st to 6th in both 2005 races;• 28th career podium in race two for Leon Haslam, equalling Regis Laconi at the 21st all-time spot: this year Leon has climbed on the podium five times, his best season result after the fourteen scored in 2010, when he was second in the championship behind Biaggi;• Ayrton Badovini scored in race two his second best career result, a fifth: last year he was fourth here. These are his two career best placements;• An unlucky spell for Lorenzo Zanetti, with his fourth straight retirement: between Miller and Misano he has only been able to run 24 laps. David Salom is on his fifth straight retirement;• Maiden podium for Alex Baldolini in Supersport: Triumph weren't able to climb on the podium since the 2010 Magny-Cours races (Chaz Davies, third);• The Misano race was the 110th straight with at least one Honda bike on the front row of the Supersport starting grid;• For the first time in history, BMW was able to lock out the podium in Superstock 1000 with Sylvain Barrier, Lorenzo Baroni and Michele Magnoni. This record puts an end to Ducati's best string of podium finishes, thirteen straight, the best one for the Italian manufacturer: the absolute record belongs to Yamaha, with 17 straight podiums from Valencia 2004 to Lausitz 2005;• Maiden Superstock 600 podium for Christian Gamarino;QUALIFYING• Seventh career pole for Tom Sykes, who now stands fourteenth overall together with Regis Laconi and Noriyuki Haga. Once more Tom wasn't able to win from pole:• Maiden front row start for Ayrton Badovini, third in grid;• Davide Giugliano was able to repeat his best career showing, obtained in Miller, fourth;• For the first time since the 2011 Monza races, Carlos Checa wasn't able to reach a top-10 grid spot;• In the last two races, Eugene Laverty has obtained his two best season performances; eighth in Miller and seventh in Misano;• Wild card Matteo Baiocco obtained his best career placement: ninth. From 2009 to 2011 he hadn't been able to record a top-10 start;• Maiden Superstock 600 pole for Franco Morbidelli;
