He held off his compatriot Jeremy Guarnoni (MRS Kawasaki), with Barrier's team-mate Luca Baroni third and the Barni Racing Team Ducati 1199 Panigale of Eddi La Marra fourth.Aussie star Bryan Staring (Team Pedercini Kawasaki) was a top five finisher, one place up on Markus Reiterberger (Team Alpha Racing BMW). British rider Kevin Coghlan (DMC Racing) was seventh on his Ducati Panigale.

016_r08_podium.jpgRiccardo Russo (Yamaha Team Italia FMI) set a new lap record of 2 minutes 05.799 seconds on his way to the win in the shortened Superstock 600 European Championship race. After a red flag halted the first attempt the planned ten lap race dropped to six and the subsequent sprint saw some intense action at the front.Michael van der Mark (EAB Ten Kate Junior Honda) finished 1.514 seconds behind Russo while Gauthier Duwelz (MTM Yamaha) was third. Francesco Cocco (Team Pata by Martini Yamaha) was fourth in the race and Adrian Nestorovic (MTM Yamaha) was fifth. The race finish today was identical to the championship order. Russo has 106 points, van der Mark 99 and Duwelz 58.

Florian Alt holte sich zur Dutch TT einen fantastischen Doppelsieg, indem er seinen Triumph vom ersten Rennen in Assen wiederholte und dem 14-jährigen Spanier Marcos Ramirez und dem 16 Jahre alten Deutschen Phillip Öttl über der Ziellinie eine Nasenlänge voraus war.

Bei sonnigen Wetterbedingungen startete das siebte Rennen der Saison in Assen. Der Australier Stoner konnte sich den Sieg sichern, auf den Plätzen zwei und drei folgten Pedrosa und Dovizioso. LCR-Honda-Fahrer Stefan Bradl ist in Runde zwei gestürzt und konnte damit erstmals ein Rennen in der Königsklasse nicht beenden.

042_r08_staring_finish.jpgBryan Staring (Team Pedercini Kawasaki) took his first win in the Superstock 1000 FIM Cup class today, front-running to take a final advantage of eight seconds and set a new lap record of 2 minutes 01.446 seconds. Runner-up was MRS Kawasaki rider Jeremy Guarnoni, who passed long-time second-placed rider Lorenzo Baroni (BMW Motorrad Italia GoldBet) in the closing stages. Fourth was Barni Racing Team Ducati Panigale rider Eddi La Marra.Championship leader Sylvain Barrier is now only a single point ahead of La Marra after he and Luca Savadori collided early in the race and Barrier eventually retired.In the championship Barrier has 75 points, La Marra 74 and Savadori 67.

308_r08_biaggi_action.jpgMax Biaggi (Aprilia Racing) secured a tight win by only 0.278 seconds from his great rival Marco Melandri (BMW Motorrad Motorsport) in race one at Motorland. This was Biaggi's fourth win of 2012, and his third in a row.The top two were well clear of the battle for third, which eventually went to Carlos Checa (Althea Racing Ducati) from Chaz Davies (ParkinGO MTC Aprilia). Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team) was deprived of what looked like a sure podium place when Ayrton Badovini (BMW Motorrad Italia GoldBet) lost the front and his machine hit Sykes' rear wheel, and both riders fell.

082_r08_wss_podium.jpgAfter an accident delayed the eventual running of the full 18-lap Supersport race, Kenan Sofuoglu (Kawasaki Lorenzini) crossed the line first but was dropped four places in the final results because of an incident involving Sofuoglu and eventual second place rider Fabien Foret (Kawasaki Intermoto Step).The final race winner was Sam Lowes (Bogdanka PTR Honda) after Sofuoglu was penalised for ignoring a signal to drop three places during the race. It was Lowes' second win of the year and it puts him second overall in the championship, after PTR Honda rider and pole man Jules Cluzel had crashed out early on.Sheridan Morais (Kawasaki Lorenzini) scored his first podium in this class in third, with Broc Parkes (Ten Kate Racing Products) fourth and Sofuoglu fifth. Ronan Quarmby (PTR Honda) was sixth. In the championship, Sofuoglu has 117 points, Lowes 101, Cluzel 84 and Foret 83.

Second in the race was Eugene Laverty (Aprilia Racing) who lost out by only 0.042 seconds. Immediately behind Chaz Davies (ParkinGO MTC Racing Aprilia) held off the attention of Max Biaggi (Aprilia Racing) to take his first ever podium in the eni FIM Superbike World Championship.The top four riders were only 0.484 seconds apart after a thrilling 20-lap race at the beautifully designed Motorland Aragon circuit. Behind the leading quartet Jonathan Rea (Honda World Superbike Team) went fifth after recovering from another bad start, with Leon Haslam (BMW Motorrad Motorsport), Carlos Checa (Althea Racing Ducati) and Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team) in basically the same group for most of the race.In the championship points, Biaggi has 248.5, Melandri has 200.5, Rea has 183, Checa has 175.5 and Sykes is fifth with 172.5.

race-ktm_004.jpgA fantastic finish to the EJC race saw local rider Javier Orellana win from pole man Lukas Wimmer by only 0.040 seconds after eight laps at the long and fast Motorland Aragon Circuit. Gaston Garcia and Christian Vidal, also local Spanish riders followed on behind Austrian Wimmer.Jean Francois Demoulin was fifth and Artur Wielebski went sixth. In the championship points table, after three completed rounds, Orellana leads Wimmer by a point, 46 to 45, with Vidal on 39 and Demoulin on 35.

The Australian, who could only manage a top 4 position in yesterday's race, set a time of 2 minutes 02.452 seconds in his 20 lap run, over one second quicker than podium man Fabien Foret (Kawasaki Intermoto Step).Frenchman Valentin Debise (SMS Racing Honda) appeared in the top echelons of the timesheets in third, a fraction ahead of the improving Aussie Jed Metcher (Rivamoto Junior Team Yamaha) and yesterday's top South African Sheridan Morais (Kawasaki Lorenzini) in fifth.14 riders were out on the track this morning in the first of today's two one-and-a-half hour sessions, which was red-flagged a couple of minutes before the end when Luca Marconi (VFT Racing Yamaha) had an engine problem.

melandri_test_aragon_02_06_12.jpgYesterday's race two winner Marco Melandri (BMW Motorrad Motorsport) led the field in morning testing at Motorland Aragon, as some of the top riders in the SBK class tested out 17 inch wheels for the first time, as well as the existing 16.5 inch rims.Second to Melandri was Ayrton Badovini (BMW Motorrad Italia GoldBet) with Aprilia rider Eugene Laverty (Aprilia Racing) third. Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team) pushed on to fourth fastest time, with Max Biaggi (Aprilia Racing) fifth, ahead of Leon Haslam (BMW Motorrad Motorsport). No fewer than 19 riders tested today although not all have yet tried out the new 17-inch wheels, nor will all of them get the chance to test with them quite yet. One more test session remains this afternoon.
