Davide Giugliano (Althea Racing Ducati) headed the qualifying timesheets after the second session this morning, but did not improve on his Friday time to do so.

His team-mate Carlos Checa made a faster lap today than Friday, but was unable to overhaul his young team-mate. Third into Superpole will be Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team) with a great improvement evident from championship leader Max Biaggi (Aprilia Racing) who went fourth.

Sylvain Guintoli (PATA Racing Team Ducati) pushed himself to fifth, with Welsh wizard Chaz Davies (ParkinGO MTC Aprilia) sixth. Marco Melandri hopes for improvements in Superpole, as he was unable to go faster today than he did yesterday in finishing up seventh.

American John Hopkins was a convincing Superpole qualifier on his FIX Crescent Suzuki machine, eighth fastest.

Carlos Checa (Althea Racing Ducati) made a late push to be fastest in the second qualifying session, setting a lap time almost at the track best. Jonathan Rea (Honda World Superbike Team) made great strides in this session and was fastest until near the end, when he and his team-mate Hiroshi Aoyama almost collided and Rea has to run wide, crashing at the end of turn one. He was ranked second, one place up in this session on Davide Giugliano (Althea Racing Ducati).

Max Biaggi (Aprilia Racing) was in the top four, and Tom Sykes took his Kawasaki Racing Team machine to fifth place. The charging Leon Haslam (BMW Motorrad Motorsport) was sixth, and one spot ahead of his team-mate Marco Melandri in the last session before the Tissot-Superpole sessions for the top 16 riders start later this afternoon.

Carlos Checa (Althea Racing Ducati) obliterated the previous track best from practice at the all-new Moscow Raceway during Tissot-Superpole qualifying, in readiness for the eni FIM Superbike World Championship races on Sunday. The top 16 riders in Superpole were whittled down to a top eight after three dry sessions and Checa proved to be the best of them, setting a new track best of 1 minute 34.193 seconds. It is his first pole position win of the 2012 season; the ninth in his career.

Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team) has more poles than anyone in 2012, seven, but had to settle for second best this time, with two fellow ex-British championship riders, Eugene Laverty (Aprilia Racing) and Leon Haslam (BMW Motorrad Motorsport) also on the front row. Davide Giugliano (Althea Racing Ducati) fell in Superpole three and thus starts eighth on the grid. Marco Melandri (BMW Motorrad Motorsport) went fifth; Jonathan Rea (Honda World Superbike Team) sixth. To make sure the championship battle remains tense, Max Biaggi (Aprilia Racing) was seventh fastest and well in the leading rider mix.

Maxim Kiselev (Dialen Honda Russia) won a wet final round of the Coppa Dei Due Paesi by an impressive margin of 7.661 seconds after an early tussle with the other leading riders. He eased away from his Russian compatriot Sergey Orlov (Yamaha) to record his first win.

Dakota Mamola (Yakhnich Motorsport Yamaha) was third in the race, just behind Orlov, with Slovakian rider Janez Prosenik (Japi Racing Team Yamaha) fourth.

In the final championship rankings Denis Sacchetti (SD Rider Team Kawasaki) won the cup itself, 56 points to 42 ahead of Mamola. Fallen rider Sergey Vlasov lost any chance of the title thanks to his fall and ended up third overall, on 29 points.

Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team) scored the first ever race win at the new circuit of Moscow Raceway in the eni FIM Superbike World Championship, after a faultless display of front running at a high pace. His instant speed from second on the grid kept him away from the troubles many other top riders endured behind him, with crashes helping Marco Melandri (BMW Motorrad Motorsport) finish second in an incident-packed race.

Max Biaggi (Aprilia Racing) overhauled his team-mate Eugene Laverty on the very last lap to take third place. Potential podium riders Carlos Checa (Althea Racing Ducati), his team-mate Davide Giugliano, Chaz Davies (ParkinGO MTC Racing Aprilia), Jonathan Rea (Honda World Superbike Team) and Sylvain Guintoli (Pata Racing Team Ducati) all crashed out, with Leon Haslam (BMW Motorrad Motorsport) also falling then restarting to finish sixth.

The fine weather that welcomed the FIM Supersport Championship racers to the Moscow Raceway provided perfect conditions for Kenan Sofuoglu (Kawasaki Lorenzini) to win his third race of the 2012 season and extend his championship lead to 33 points. The Turkish rider had Jules Cluzel (PTR Honda) as a shadow for most of the race but his pace at the end was enough to draw him over five seconds ahead at the flag.

An amazingly popular third place for Vladimir Leonov (Yakhnich Motorsports Yamaha) was a pleasing spectacle for the new Moscow Raceway crowd. Fourth was Sofuoglu's team-mate Sheridan Morais, with Broc Parkes (Ten Kate Racing Products) fifth.

In the championship Sofuoglu has 173 points, Cluzel 140 and the luckless Sam Lowes (Bogdanka PTR Honda) 138, after he jump started and dropped to 12th in the race after taking a ride-through penalty.
